Due to the variations of currency rates the net loss of this period made LTL 2,1 million. The profit of the group before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization in 2008 made LTL 90,2 million. In the last quarter of the year 2008 the profit of Sanitas group before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization made LTL 16,5 million. During this period the net loss in LTL 17,5 million was suffered. According to the representatives of Sanitas, the main cause of the losses is the loss in currency rate formed due to the weakened Polish zloty. In total in 2008 the Sanitas group suffered the losses in LTL 49,9 million because of the influence of the currency rates, where the loss of LTL 43,4 million was suffered in the last quarter of the year 2008. Following the changed situation in the international markets the group formed additional extensions in LTL 3,1 millions for the amounts receivable from the clients, who work in the risky markets (mainly in and ) in the last quarter of the year 2008. According to the Financial Director of Sanitas, Nerijus Drobavičius, as the risk of insolvency of the clients acting in the risky markets has increased the Sanitas group has toughened the sale conditions for them. The consolidated pre-tax profit of Sanitas in the first half-year – LTL 21,468 million Information to mass communications 18 August 2008 The largest Lithuanian pharmaceutical company Sanitas, which also controls the Slovakian pharmaceutical plant Hoechst-Biotika and Polish pharmaceutical company Jelfa, made the consolidated pre-tax profit in this first half-year in the amount of LTL 21,468 million, and the sales made LTL 193,629 million.
In the same period last year the consolidated pre-tax profit made LTL 28,6 million, and the sales made LTL 166,799 million. According to Mr. Saulius Jurgelėnas, Director General of Sanitas, the pre-tax profit was a little smaller this year than expected. This was mainly influenced by the increased financial costs and sales in US dollars in the beginning of the year. The profit of Sanitas before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) in the first half-year reached LTL 57,422 million, and in the same period last year it made LTL 59,411 million. According to Mr. S.
